“Be More You”

One Story. One Lesson. One Action

One Story - The One Thing

When I sold my financial planning business at 51, most people thought I was retiring because I was tired. That wasn’t it. I didn’t want more time to do nothing — I wanted the freedom to do just one thing at a time.

For decades, I’d been spinning plates: clients, staff, growth targets, regulations, and the endless pressure of “what’s next.” I was successful by every external measure, but inside I was stretched thin.

When I stepped away, life suddenly became quieter. I remember sitting in the Japanese Alps, looking out at the snow, and realising: This is it. Just one thing. Right now, it’s skiing this run. Later, it’s soaking in an onsen. Tomorrow, maybe it’s writing a page of my book.

And for the first time in years, I wasn’t pulled in 10 different directions. I was fully alive in the moment, doing one thing that mattered.

One Lesson- Less is More

Most of us think freedom is about adding more — more money, more investments, more experiences, more time. But I’ve learned it’s not addition that changes your life, it’s subtraction.

When I sold my business, I didn’t gain freedom because I suddenly had more choices. I gained freedom because I cut away the noise. I went from juggling hundreds of responsibilities to focusing on one thing at a time.

The truth is, you don’t need ten strategies to get ahead. You don’t need twenty goals to feel fulfilled. You need one thing that matters most right now, and the discipline to shut the door on the rest.

Clarity isn’t a luxury. It’s the edge.

One Action- One Step

Ask yourself right now: What’s my one thing today?

Not forever. Not for everyone. Just for today.

  • It might be finishing a project.

  • It might be calling someone you love.

  • It might be simply sitting down with a cup of coffee and actually tasting it.

Write it down. Do it. And let everything else wait.

Because when you focus on one thing, you unlock the power to live your way.
